Symbol Designation Description
Boil wash Linen, for example, of cotton or linen, white, boil-proof, dyed or printed. Drum completely full. Pre-treat stubborn stains.
60 °C-Coloured wash Non boil-proof coloured laundry, e.g. cotton, modal and polyester as well as mixed fabrics.
60 °C-easy-care Reduce the amount of laundry. Fill the drum to a maximum of 2/3 full. Do not spin or only spin briefly because of the risk of creasing.
40 °C-Coloured wash Washing cycle e.g. for dark coloured items made of cotton, polyester, blended fabrics, etc.
40 °C-easy-care Products made, for example, of modal, viscose, underwear made of synthetic fibres ( polyacrylic, polyester and polyamide ). Reduce the amount of laundry. Fill the drum to half full at the most. Do not spin or only spin briefly because of the risk of creasing.
40 °C-Fine wash For example, articles made of machine-washable wool. This wash cycle has a particularly gentle mechanical treatment. Reduce the amount of laundry considerably. Fill the drum only up to one third.
30 °C-coloured wash Washing cycle for example for dark coloured articles made of cotton, polyester, mixed fabrics, etc.
30 °C-easy-care Items made of modal, viscose, polyacrylic, for example,  polyester and polyamide. Reduce the amount of laundry.fill the drum to half full at the most. Do not spin or only spin briefly because of the risk of creasing.
30 °C-fine wash For example, articles made of machine-washable wool. This wash cycle has a particularly gentle mechanical treatment. Reduce the amount of laundry considerably (fill the drum only up to one third).
Hand wash Water temperature up to max. 40 °C depending on the article. First dissolve the mild detergent/wool detergent well in plenty of water. Then place the textiles floating in the detergent solution and move them carefully. Do not rub, tug or wring. Then rinse the textiles well, squeeze out carefully and pull into shape. Treat coloured and sensitive laundry items quickly and do not leave them wet.
Do not wash Items marked in this way must not be washed. They may also be sensitive to any wet treatment or are unsuitable for treatment in the household washing machine due to their size.
Chlorine, oxygen bleach The empty triangle is the symbol for chlorine or oxygen bleaching.
Oxygen bleach The triangle with the two diagonal lines indicates indicates that only oxygen bleach ( contained in in all-purpose detergents ), but not chlorine bleach is possible.
Do not bleach The crossed-out triangle indicates that bleach is not possible. Use only bleach-free detergents.
Normal drying process Drying in tumble dryer/tumbler at normal load and temperature ( 80 °C ) possible without restrictions.
Gentle drying process Take care when drying in a tumble dryer. Select a gentle process with reduced load, temperature ( 60 °C ) and treatment time.
Do not tumble dry Article does not tolerate tumble drying.

Hot ironing Also corresponds to the iron temperature level "Cotton/Linen". Treat with iron dampness, moisten if necessary. Iron shiny or pressure-sensitive pieces with an intermediate cloth or on the reverse side. Steam iron can be used.
Moderate hot ironing Also corresponds to the iron temperature level "Wool/Silk/Polyester/Viscose". Iron under a moderately damp intermediate cloth.
Steam iron can be used. Avoid heavy pressing. Do not distort.
Do not iron hot Also corresponds to the iron temperature level "Polyacrylic/polyamide (nylon)/acetate". If necessary, iron glossy or pressure-sensitive items with a dry intermediate cloth or on the reverse side. Exercise caution when using steam irons (generally work without steam ). Do not distort.
Do not iron Disruptive changes that can no longer be corrected are to be expected.
Dry cleaning Treatment with the following solvents: Perchloroethylene, hydrocarbons ( heavy benzines ). Normal process without restriction. Commercially available stain removers can be used with restrictions. A test on a concealed area is recommended beforehand.
